Governor proclaims September National Preparedness Month

Governor Jim Pillen has signed a proclamation recognizing September as National Preparedness Month and emphasizing the importance of preparing individuals, families and communities for emergencies and disasters.

For many Nebraskans, wildfire preparedness has become more personal this year. Whether living in a rural community, on a farm or ranch, or in an urban area, Nebraskans are encouraged to understand the hazards that could affect them and take steps to prepare.

The 2026 National Preparedness Month theme, “Americans Stand Ready,” highlights three key ways individuals and communities can strengthen preparedness and build greater resilience.
