Grant Maas, Ziska collect third

Following home dual competition on Thursday, the Wayne High boys wrestling team headed to south central Nebraska for a weekend invite.

From Holdrege, the Blue Devils were listed among the nine total teams competing in the Holdrege Duster Wrestling Scramble on Saturday and were one of the few area competitors which did not get canceled or postponed.

The Wayne High boys finished eighth with 48.5 points among their nine wrestlers in action.

Minden won the invite with 154 points, followed by Broken Bow with 135 points to finish runner-up, McCook took third (133.5), Norton placed fourth (114) and Grand Island Northwest rounded out the top five teams with 106 points.

Wayne leaders were Grant Maas (150) and Maddox Ziska (285) both in third as Noah Magnuson (132) took fourth.

Thomas Raymundo (126) finished with eight points as Emmanuel Gonzalez (106) and Hunter Foote (138) both recorded three points.

Other wrestlers in action were Grady Maas (113), Jaime Ramirez Salas (190) and Alan Ramirez Salas (215).

The Wayne High boys wrestling team will next compete in the Pierce Invite on Friday, Dec. 20 while the girls will travel to the Elgin Public/Pope John Invite. The Pierce Girls Invite will be on Saturday, Dec. 21.
