Wayne State right side-middle hitter Erin Gross was announced Monday afternoon as the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week following her play in road wins over the weekend at Minot State and Mary. It's the second time in the last three weeks that Gross has collected NSIC Player of the Week honors
Gross, a 6-foot-1 junior, averaged 4.14 kills and one block per set while posting a stout .460 attack percentage in a 3-0 win at Minot State and 3-1 victory at the University of Mary over the weekend. She recorded 15 kills and hit .520 in Friday's win at Minot State and followed that performance with 14 kills, five blocks and a .400 attack percentage in a 3-1 win at Mary. For the weekend, Gross had 29 kills and just six errors in 50 total attacks while posting a .460 attack percentage.
This season, Gross is averaging 2.40 kills and 0.77 blocks per set while hitting .288 for the Wildcats.
Wayne State, ranked eighth in the AVCA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll, is 21-6 on the season and 12-6 in the NSIC, and will host MSU Moorhead Friday at 7 p.m. and No. 20 Northern State Saturday at 2 p.m. in the final home games of the season for the Wildcats.
