Gross named NSIC Player of the Week

Wayne State College rightside-middle hitter Erin Gross was announced as the Northern Sun Conference Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week by the league office in Burnsville, Minn.

A 6-foot-1 junior from Tekamah, Gross averaged 4.00 kills and 0.82 blocks per set while posting a .372 attack percentage in matches against No. 8 Augustana, No. 1 Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State. She recorded double-digit kills in all three matches, highlighted by a career-high 19 kills with three blocks and a .421 attack percentage in Tuesday’s 3-1 win over Augustana. Gross followed that performance with 14 kills and four blocks in a 3-1 setback against Minnesota Duluth and closed the week with 11 kills, a .409 attack percentage and two blocks in a 3-0 sweep Saturday over St. Cloud State.

For the season, Gross is averaging 2.24 kills and ranks third in blocks on the team with 63 (0.81 per set) for the ninth-ranked Wildcats, who are 17-6 overall and 8-6 in the NSIC.
