Several members of the Stool to Cool Task Force, city officials, city staff and the engineer for the project were on hand last Friday afternoon for the Prairie Park Project.
Work has already taken place on the area which will include a lake, camping area and other recreational activities.
It is located west of the Summer Sports Complex on a 26-acre parcel of land that was once home to the city's lagoon.
Because of the construction taking place in the area, the Summer Sports Complex and the Wayne Bark Park is now closed. It is anticipated that it will remain closed for several weeks as crews work to install necessary infrastructure for the project.
