Five Wayne High track and field standouts competed Thursday in the Nebraska Track Festival, an all-star meet of the top performers in the state, at Papillion-LaVista South High School.
Senior Kylie Hammer, who won both the long jump and triple jump, defended her triple jump title with a best mark of 36 feet, 10 inches, and also took second in the long jump at 17-9. She competed on the track as well, finishing eighth in the 100-meter dash in 13.27 seconds.
Sophomore Cody Rogers was a double medalist as well, taking fourth place in the triple jump (41-8) and fifth in the long jump (20-8).
Senior Jenna Trenhaile finished seventh in the girls’ discus with a best throw of 123-8. Junior Kaden Kneifl placed ninth in the boys shot put with a best mark of 49-2 1/2, while junior Gabi Meyer was 10th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.
