Wayne High graduate and Wayne State sophomore Kylie Hammer was tabbed with the Northern Sun Conference Women’s Basketball South Division Player of the Week award following her performance in Saturday’s 80-76 victory over Augustana.
Hammer recorded career-highs in points (21) and rebounds (8) to lead Wayne State in Saturday’s 80-76 NSIC opening win over Augustana. She was 7-of-13 from the field, including 4-of-6 behind the arc, and made all three free throws in the win. Hammer also had five assists and three steals. It was the second straight career-high performance in scoring for Hammer after she produced 20 points in last Saturday's 84-74 win at Black Hills State.
For the season, Hammer is averaging 13.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 49.1 percent (27-55) from the field and 8-for-16 (50 percent) behind the 3-point line.
It’s the first time Hammer has received NSIC Player of the Week honors and it is the second straight week that a Wildcat has received the honor. Erin Norling was named South Division Player of the Week last week.
