Hammer leads Wayne qualifiers for Classic

The Norfolk Track and Field Classic is set for Thursday at Norfolk High School, and Wayne High will be well represented with qualifiers in 13 events.

Senior Kylie Hammer will be the busiest of the Wayne competitors, as she will compete in four events, including the long jump, triple jump and 100- and 200-meter dashes. She has the leading distances in both the long and triple jumps, is fifth in the 100 and third in the 200 among the entries listed.

Andrea Torres and Gabi Meyer are both listed in two events. Torres will run in the 3,200, Meyer will compete in the 800 and both are part of the 3,200-meter relay with Molly Hoskins, Sarah Greenwald and Frankie Klausen. Meyer is the alternate for the team.

Cody Rogers is competing in two events for the Wayne High boys, as he will compete in the triple jump and will be joined by Mason Lee in the long jump.

Other Wayne High competitors  include Maysn Dorey in the girls pole vault, Jenna Trenhaile in the girls discus (top thrower in the competition), Jack Evetovich and Collin Clausen in the boys high jump and Kaden Kneifl in the boys shot put.

Action begins at 3:30 p.m. at Norfolk High School.
