Wayne High junior Kylie Hammer jumped her way to two first-place finishes at the first-ever Nebraska Track & Field Festival on Friday in Papillion.

The all-star meet, which featured the best high school track and field athletes in the state, saw Hammer and Grayson McBride represent Wayne High School in the statewide meet. Both competed in the triple jump, with Hammer participating in the girls long jump and McBride in the boys high jump.

Hammer won both of her events, taking the long jump with a winning leap of 18 feet, 2 inches, and winning the triple jump at 37-2. Her effort in the triple bettered her old school record of 36-7 1/4 and is the second-best mark in the state this season, regardless of class. Her win in the long jump came by just one-quarter of an inch over Claire Cornell of Elm Creek.

McBride finsihed eighth in the triple jump at 40-6 1/2, and went out at 6 feet in the high jump, tying for sixth.
