For the second time in three weeks, Wayne State junior infielder Andrew Hanson was selected Northern Sun Conference Baseball Player of the Week following his play last weekend in a three-game series at Newman University in Kansas.
Hanson hit .583 last weekend, going 7-for-12 at the plate with two homers, three doubles and seven RBI for a 1.333 slugging percentage. He had a pair of three-hit games while extending his hitting streak to 10 games to start the season. Hanson was 3-for-4 with a homer, double and three runs scored in Friday’s 14-10 win over the Jets, hit a two-run homer in a 10-6 loss and capped the series going 3-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI in a 15-1 victory over Newman on Saturday.
For the season, Hanson is hitting .444 with eight doubles, three homers and 14 RBI and has recorded seven multi-hit games while hitting safely in all 10 games this season for the Wildcats.
Hanson was named the first NSIC Player of the Week this season on Feb. 10.
