Haschke wins playoff, Wayne girls third

Senior Riley Haschke scored a career best and won a playoff to help lead the Wayne High girls to a third-place finish in their home tournament Friday at Wayne Country Club.

Haschke shot an 87 and beat LCC’s Sarah Karnes in a two-hole playoff to earn medalist honors.

Wayne finished with a 401, one shot behind runner-up Oakland-Craig, with Pierce (390) taking the team trophy.

Three Wayne golfers earned individual medals. Joining Haschke were Joslyn Johnson, placing fifth with a 95; and Carli Canham, who earned her first varsity medal with a 107, placing 14th.

Rounding out Wayne’s varsity round were Charli Sievers with a 112 and Lindsay Nieman with a 118. Trinity Surber (125), Rylynn Owen (131) and Hallie Heithold (131) shot for the Wayne JV.

LCC finished fourth among the 12 teams competing. Karnes finished second with an 87 and Delaney Hall was 15th with a 108 to earn medals. Also scoring were Holly Patefield with a 113, Skyler Swanson with a 114 and Clara Brummels with a 115.

In JV action, Maddy Graham shot a 102 to place 11th, Beka Lipp had a 114, London Vancleave shot 120, Lily Fox had a 127 and Kennedy Hall had a 136.

Tri County Northeast had two golfers compete. Katie Utech shot 151 and Madeline Trenhaile had a 152.
