Wayne High freshman Laura Hasemann earned a trip to next week’s State Cross Country Championships after qualifying in the C-2 district meet Thursday at Pierce Golf Club.
Hasemann finished in a time of 20:24.45 to place fourth in the race, finishing about a minute behind the winner, Jordan Soto-Stopak of Boone Central/Newman Grove (19:31.79). The top 15 individuals qualify for the state meet, scheduled for next Friday, Oct. 25, at the Kearney Country Club.
The Wayne girls placed sixth as a team with 90 points, missing out on one of the three team qualifying positions available. Wayne High’s boys placed 10th as a team in the 11-team race.
In Class D, the Winside boys finished seventh and the LCC boys were 12th in the D-3 district at Pender. No area runners qualified in Class D.
