Not only is senior libero/defensive specialist Jacen Hasemann excited for her upcoming senior season for Wayne High volleyball, but also received a confidence boost knowing she has her college plans in place following a mid-August signing.
Another athletic senior class began with the first letter of intent signing for Hasemann to join the Kansas Wesleyan University volleyball program next fall in Salina, KS.
It was just a couple years ago that Hasemann decided to pursue options for the college ranks.
"I've been playing club since eighth grade year and I think about sophomore year I kind of decided I wanted to go to a different level," said Hasemann. My older sister (Laura) runs down at Doane, so I kind of got an inside look at college athletics."
This past spring, Hasemann was offered and over the summer made the decision.
Hasemann will plan on pursuing Sports Media.
"I think honestly it's kind of a confidence boost," Hasemann mentioned. "You know you can take it to the next level, other people can see that. So, I feel like it's kind of putting me in a good position for leadership with the team. So, I'm kind of taking that and running with it."
Hasemann added the energy has been high-tempo.
"Every girl is coming in positive even with those two-a-days," Hasemann added. "Which is so exciting and that's what you want to find in any gym you go. So, I think that's a good outlook for the season."
Along with team lifting and team camps, the Blue Devils joined in open gyms with several playing with their respective club programs.
Hasemann is excited about the upcoming Blue Devil volleyball season.
"I really love this group of girls, everybody has so much energy and super positive," said Hasemann. "So, I think we're going to have a really fun season. I think everybody is looking forward to our games."
