Class B Senior American Legion baseball was halfway through their opening day of state tournament competition following game two showcasing Rolling Hills Supply Post 43 on Saturday.
From Landmark Implement Field in Holdrege, Area 5 champion Wayne took on Area 2 champion Gana Trucking Post 105 Hickman.
Hickman built a 5-0 lead and held onto the 5-2 win to improve to 21-18. Rolling Hills Supply fell to 25-4.
Hickman produced two runs in the top of the third. Following a scoreless fourth, Hickman added a run in the fifth and two more runs in the top of the sixth. Rolling Hills Supply recorded two runs in the home half of the sixth. Final favored Hickman winning 5-2 and winning the hit department, 7-2.
Gavin Redden recorded a two-run homerun while Wyatt Heikes singled. Jaxson Kneifl also scored.
Adrian Contreras (59 pitches) suffered the loss in three innings allowing two earned runs off three hits while striking out, walking and hitting three batters each. Heikes (43) worked the final four innings allowing three earned runs off four hits while striking out and walking two batters each as well as hitting one batter.
Earlier in the morning, Area 6 champion Central City Post 6 (18-6) won 11-4 over Area 1 champion ETC Knights Black Post 211 Elkhorn (36-12).
