Honoring those who served

Students at Wayne Community Schools, along with those from St. Mary's Elementary School and members of the public gathered Monday to honor all veterans who have served in the military throughout this country's history. Superintendent Dr. Mark Lenihan served as emcee for the morning's program. Music was provided by Ceilus Ibarra and Sharon Vasquez, who sang the Star Spangled Banner and the Wayne High School Band. Members of the Quilts of Valor Quilters from the Wakefield Quilt Shop presented quilts to 10 area veterans during the program. Guest speaker for the program was Kenny Hall, who shared information about his military service. His granddaughter, Regan Fernau and Rylin Hall, were also able to be a part of the program. Veterans  receiving Quilts of Valor included    (front) James Wiebelhaus, Jesse Titiml, Matt Poehlman, William Blecke and Jim Fernau. (back) John M. York, Brian Loberg, Cory Leseberg, Jessi Hochstein and Mark Hill.
