In the Aug. 13 Guest Editorial in the Wayne Herald, the Friends of the Library encouraged the community to consider relocating the current library location to the 1100 E 10th Street building by expressing support for the library in the recent community survey.
If another use for the 10th Street building is determined, the Friends of the library would like to provide the community with additional information on the need of a larger building for the library, it’s programs and activities.
The Friends of the Library volunteers and other volunteers worked 1,084 hours in the 2024-2025 fiscal year to include fund raising activities such as the Summer Reading Program, Easter Egg Hunt, Tea Party and Sweet Taste of Wayne. Additional funding contributors included Wayne County, Wayne Library Foundation, and the Wayne Community Chest for a total of $20,900 during the 2024-2025 fiscal year. These funds were used for library programs, and supplies. The library continues to rely on community donations to fund the Summer Reading Program.
