Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Laurel.

Irvin was born Oct. 21, 1941 in Laurel to William and Edna (Felger) Haisch. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Laurel, attended a one room school house until the eighth grade.  Irvin graduated from Laurel High School in 1959 and attended one year at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.  He was a member of the University of Nebraska Rifle Team where he obtained third place at competition, much to the chagrin of many upperclassmen.  His dad passed away in November 1960 and Irvin moved back home to take care of the farm outside of Concord.

Irvin served in the United States Army Reserves from 1961 to 1966.  On Sept. 1, 1973 Irvin married Paula McInerney in Sioux City, Iowa. They lived and farmed near Concord for most of his life until a stroke in February 2021.

Irvin loved working on the farm. He raised hogs for about 35 years and was featured on the cover of the November 1974 issue of Nebraska Farmer for his innovative use of the Modified Open Front (MOF) hog house design. Irvin enjoyed farm work and was never afraid of getting dirty.  To save money and be more efficient, he created several implements of his own design.

Irvin loved his old cars and convertibles and enjoyed working on them, especially his pair of 1906 Ford Model N runabouts. He was a member of the Early Ford Registry.  Irvin always looked forward to the New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run in Minnesota. Above all, Irvin loved his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed watching and supporting them in their sporting events.

Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Paula Haisch of Concord; three children: William Haisch of Concord, Kimberly (Aaron) Ocampo of Laurel and Robert (Amy) Haisch of Norfolk; six grandchildren: Taven, Trecyn, Lucille and Trexton Ocampo, Harper and Logan Haisch; three sisters: Eileen Allerman of West Palm Beach, Florida, Linda (Bill) Gurney of Eugene, Oregon and Lila (Mike) Foor of Saginaw, Michigan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Kermit Allerman; and sister (brother-in-law), Elaine (Orville) Ritterling.
