Jacalyn was born Feb. 12, 1959 in Hays, Kansas to Vernon and Mary Jane (Andrews) Mohler. Her family moved to Superior,  where she was baptized in the Republican River in 1979 by Rev. Robert Ablin, near Superior.  She graduated with the class of 1977, from Superior High School. She worked at her dad’s gas station near Superior from 1972 – 1974, where she pumped gas and washed windshields.  Jacalyn married Lyle Trautman on Aug. 21, 1975 in Portis, Kansas, and to this union, three beloved sons were born. They lived in the communities in Kansas of Arga, Mankato, Hays, and Garden City before moving to Superior and then putting down their roots in Hoskins in 1986. Over the years, Jacalyn worked at Pizza Hut, Beef America, and Arnolds then attended Northeast Community College. Her most cherished time was caring for her grandchildren.

Jacalyn loved spending time with her family, from simple visits, to shared travel, to holidays spent around her dinner table, enjoying her traditional holiday specialties and oftentimes visiting and laughing, while playing cards.  She was the devout, local cat Mom to many stray cats, which she lovingly tended to, by surrendering both her porch and her grocery budget, to ensure their good care!  Jacalyn loved to find a good thrift store buy, to read and discuss a good book, and to tend to her summer garden.

She delighted in staying connected to those she loved, by texting, talking on the phone, or chatting on the porch, while enjoying a cold ice tea.  Her ultimate joy was watching her children's families grow and watching her grandchildren, each develop into their own unique and special selves. She cherished the bonds she shared with each of them, whether through everyday moments, her readily available stories and words of wisdom, or her unconditional love and affection.

Above all else, Jacalyn LOVED the Lord! An excerpt of the final phone text that she sent to her beloved sisters read as follows, "JESUS has this. I was sitting here writing an invitation to the Gospel on a YouTube comment.  For 2 or 3 seconds I felt absolutely HORRIBLE.  Then that feeling left me and  I felt like death and disease had left my body. Before that, I was just feeling the Holy Spirit throughout my body...THANK YOU JESUS!!..."  It is believed that she died moments after that text, in the comfort of her favorite sitting chair/recliner, where she was found peacefully passed away.

Jacalyn is survived by her sons and their families: Trenton (Laura) Trautman of Monroe and their children: Jason (Anna) Trautman of Wayne and Torie Trautman and great-grandchildren Cambria and Bjorn of Sioux City, Iowa; Levi (Andrea) Trautman and their children: Graycen, Ashlyn, Brooklyn, and Logan of Wakefield; Nathan (Nicole) Trautman and their sons: Fayte, Bastian, and Archer of Newman Grove; sisters, Verna Jane (Ron) Nott of Canon City, Colorado; twin sister, Jocelyn (Steven) Shroyer of Superior; brother, Wendell (Susan) Mohler of Pikeville, Tennessee; aunt, Alicia Fricke of Lawrence, Kansas; brother-in-law, Loren Trautman of Newman Grove; and many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and neighbors.
