NSAA winter sports postseason began with boys high school bowling on Jan. 28 for Wayne High.

From Wildcat Lanes in Wayne, the Blue Devils won the B-5 District Championships to advance to state.

Wayne won 3-0 over Spalding Academy and also won 3-0 over Northwest in the finals during bracket play.

Wayne also had four place in the top five individually to advance to state.

Aiden Petersen was crowned district champion with a 641, Dylan Jensen took third (594), Konnor Kai finished fourth (583) followed by one pin from Ben Haschke (582).

Head coach Josh Johnson said, "I was so pleased with how the boys bowled today (Jan. 28). They kept a great attitude all day and really battled hard. The boys stayed loose in the Baker games and really put up a great fight. They really worked hard to find a line on a tough pattern. This mindset will important as the boys prepare to bowl at State. It was also super cool to have four individual qualifiers. Blake (Smith) was so close to getting in but it just wasn't meant to be to have all five bowlers qualify. We now have some time to worry about us."

The 2026 NSAA State Bowling Championships for boys are scheduled for Feb. 9 at 9 a.m. (Class B boys singles) and Feb. 10 at 8 a.m. (Class B boys team) in Lincoln.

The Wayne girls bowling team will host the B-6 District Championships on Feb. 2 starting at 10 a.m.
