A three-judge panel has handed down its sentence for Jason Jones, who was facing life in prison or the death penalty.
At a sentencing hearing on Friday, April 10, Jason Jones was sentenced to death for his four murder charges. With this sentencing, Jones becomes the 12th Nebraska inmate on death row. The three judges on the panel that determined if Jones would get the death penalty were all in favor of the sentence.
Jones, now 46, was present in the courtroom for the first time as District Court Judge Bryan Meismer, who presided over his trial in September 2024, told him he was sentenced to death. During his trial, Jones was not present due to medical issues related to burns he received the night of the murders.
Jason Jones was arrested the day after the fatal shootings and house fires.
