He died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025 at his home in Wayne.

Jessy Lee Mick was born Nov. 4, 1976 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He lived in Ponca during grade school. His family moved to Emerson, where Jessy graduated from high school in May of 1995. Jessy worked at IBP’s trailer washout after high school. In 2000, he started work at Pacific Coast Feather in the warehouse until the tornado in October of 2013. He had been recently employed at Great Dane for over 10 years. Jessy met his wife at Pacific Coast Feather. They were married in Wayne on July 10, 2009.

Jessy loved tent camping, bonfires, fishing, music, his dogs, thunderstorms, and his family. He was an avid professional wrestling fan from WWE, AEW and NWO. He could tell you the background of every wrestler — how they started their career, and statistics. Jessy was always smiling and wanting to make everyone he knew laugh, even if it was with his corny “dad jokes”. Jessy also enjoyed riddles and trying to trip his wife up with them to see if she couldn’t figure them out. When he failed to trip her up, he would say “darn, you’re too smart”.

Jessy loved watching Nebraska football. He was a collector of baseball cards, football cards, and comic books. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and a L.A. Charger fan. Jessy enjoyed barbecuing and smoking different meats. The more creative he made the meat combinations, the prouder he was of himself.

Jessy’s favorite holiday was Halloween. He and his wife loved watching horror movies and paranormal shows together. Jessy was often referred to as “the big guy” which cracked him up because he was actually a shy guy with a huge heart. He gave the best hugs. He loved his wife’s roses and enjoyed growing plants and vegetables from seeds. He enjoyed flower shopping every year with his wife but never wanted anyone to know how much he enjoyed it.

Jessy and his wife Teresa did everything together side by side. His love, protection, smiles, laugher, and essence of everything he is will be missed deeply forever.

Jessy’s family includes his wife, Teresa; daughters and fiancés, Siera Brugger (Bobby Adair) of Wakefield and Cailee Brugger (Isaiah Longe) of Norfolk; mother-in-law, Sharon McQuistan of Wayne; brother-in-law, John McQuistan of Wayne; in-laws, Christi (Brian) Larson Akron, Iowa and Sheryl (Alex Garcia) Salmons of Napa, Idaho; mother and stepfather, Marcie (Chuck ) Chinn of Emerson; sisters, April Robinson of Emerson, Jennifer Chinn (Ryan Lensink) of Emerson and Lacey Chinn of Emerson; uncle, Marlin (Jan) Chinn of Wayne; nieces; nephews; cousins and his good pals, Moxley and Aires.
