Joan R. Baier, 71, of Wayne, died Wednesday, April 7, 2026 at Providence Medical Center in Wayne.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne.  The Rev. Chad Rademacher will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 13 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Wayne. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

Memorials may be directed to Joan's family for later designation.  

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.

Joan Rose Baier was born Oct. 30, 1954 in Norfolk to LaVerle Alvin and Lois Louise (Meyer) Schnoor. She attended Wayne County District #76 in Sholes, graduated from Randolph High School in 1972, and attended Northeast Community College, where she earned a secretarial degree.

Joan married David Baier on Aug. 14, 1976 in Norfolk. The couple farmed near Wayne throughout their married life. Joan was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first, faithfully providing for them with love and care. She was an avid baker and gardener, sharing her gifts generously with family, friends, and neighbors.

Joan was an active and devoted member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where her faith was lived out in service. She co-chaired the altar guild, ushered, taught Sunday school, was a member of Charity Circle, and faithfully participated in all aspects of church life, always willing to help wherever there was a need.

Survivors include her husband, Dave; daughter, Alison (John) Parsons of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; son, Scott (Ashley) Baier of Frisco, Texas; grandchildren: Evan, Kaden, Harper, Carson, Archer, and Eleanor; sister, Linda (Steve) Sehi of Norfolk; brothers, Jon (Jeanne) Schnoor of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Jim (Theresa) Schnoor of Randolph; in-laws, Ken Baier of Ames, Karen (Greg) Lair of Superior, Colorado, and Jan (Virg) Kardell of Pilger; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Debra Wattier; brother-in-law, Larry Wattier; nephew, Cody Schnoor; parents-in-law, Walter and Irma (Rauss) Baier; and sister-in-law, Barb Baier.

Pallbearers will be Evan Leedom, Kaden Leedom, Kyle Sanders, Andrew Schnoor, Carter Schnoor and Jim Scott.
