She died suddenly on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her home in Wayne
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Joanne Kay Baier, the daughter of Verne and Doris Mallonee (Long), was born on Nov.18, 1945 in Fremont. She attended Wayne State College and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She married Randy Roy Baier on June 18, 1967 at the First Christian Church in Fremont. The couple farmed northwest of Wisner where she worked for the Nebraska State Social Services in Wayne until her retirement in 2009.
Joanne will be remembered as the matriarch of the family who was independent, strong willed, self-reliant, kind hearted, loving and passionate. After the loss of her husband, she remained single and encouraged her daughters to be motivated and determined to live their lives for their families and friends. Joanne enjoyed her weekly outings at the Senior Center, playing cut throat cards with her friends and holidays with family. Joanne’s witty banter and snarky comments will be missed by all who knew her.
Joanne Kay Baier laid to rest her oldest daughter, Kymn Marie Stark (Baier), in April 2022 and is survived by her daughter, Kathy, and spouse, Edward Lockhart of Turks and Caicos Islands; two granddaughters, Cassandra and Kyle Koskovich and Julia Stark, all of Omaha; three grandsons, Randell Lockhart and Jackson Stark, both of Omaha and Garet Lockhart of Turks and Caicos Islands, one great granddaughter Kinzley Koskovich; and nieces and nephews.
