Wayne High bowling coach Josh Johnson was named Girls Bowling Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA).

Johnson led the Wayne High girls bowling team to a state title in its first year as a varsity program. The team achieved a perfect 12-0 record in Baker scoring action to set an unbreakable record during the 2020 Nebraska State Girls Bowling Championships earlier this year in Lincoln.

Johnson was one of 23 coaches from across the state who were recognized by the NFHS and NSAA. The coaches will be honored during half-time of the 2022 Class A Girls State Basketball Championship final on Friday, March 11, at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
