Junior Joslyn Johnson won a two-hole sudden death playoff to cap a day of victories for the Wayne High girls golf team.
Johnson posted a par on the No. 2 hole at Wayne Country Club to edge O’Neill’s Kaylin Gaughenbaugh in a playoff after both players shot round of 85.
Johnson’s score helped lead the Blue Devils to the team title by five shots over West Holt, with O’Neill claiming the third team spot for next week’s state tournament in North Platte.
Wayne shot a 390, led by Johnson’s 85. Carli Canham was fifth with a 95, Charli Sievers placed seventh with a 97, Lindsay Niemann shot 115 and Hallie Heithold added a 117.
LCC’s Holly Patefield found her way to state as an individual. Despite a rough finish, Patefield was able to finish in a three-way tie for ninth place with a score of 101. The top 10 individuals, including ties, qualify along with three teams.
LCC finished fourth in the 15-team tournament, which was pushed back a day due to weather. The Lady Bears finished six shots behind O’Neill, with Patefield’s 101 followed by Skylar Swanon (103), Clara Brummels (105), Harper Bruning (105) and Beka Lipp 110.
Tri County Northeast finished last with a 705, led by Kimberly Ahlers with a 146.
