Judith M. Griess, 77, of Wayne, formerly of Omaha, died Thursday, March 3, 2022 at her home at Kinship Pointe in Wayne.
Private services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. There is no visitation.
Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Wayne and the Griess family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Judith M. Griess was born in York to Wilmer and Elizabeth (Haberman) Griess of Aurora, Neb. In 1945, her family moved to Wayne, where her parents purchased Griess Rexall. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1962. Following graduation she attended Wayne State College and the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where she received a B.S. in Education - Math. She taught junior high Math in Omaha for one year, after which she was employed by Union Pacific in their Upland Industries division in Omaha, as an Information Systems Associate until 1980. She then became a Senior Computer Programmer with Union Pacific Realty Company until 1988. In 1989 she accepted the position of Senior Systems Engineer with SAIC in Bellevue. She continued with this work until her retirement.
Judith was a member of First Presbyterian Church, in Wayne, Nebraska, P.E.O., and several Genealogy Societies. In addition she was an avid Nebraska Husker Football fan and enjoyed her several book clubs in the Omaha area.
Survivors include her brother Philip and his wife, Jean Griess, of Wayne; nephews, Timothy Griess and Kevin Griess; niece, Katherine and her husband, Robert Scott, and their children Emma and William, all of Lexington, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
