One Junior American Legion baseball team fell to the elimination round, another was knocked out and Northeast Nebraska Crush 11U finished their time in Iowa.
From West Point during day three of the Class B Area 5 Juniors Tourney, #3 Rolling Hills Supply Wayne Post 43 met with #1 West Point for the third time this season.
The Wayne Jrs suffered a third loss to West Point (8-3). Previous losses were 7-1 on June 24 at West Point and 11-0 on July 5 during the RBL consolation round in Arlington.
The Post 43 Jrs (14-8) will look to fight off elimination against #5 Platte River Rivals (Schuyler/Morse Bluff/North Bend) on July 13 at 5 p.m. Wayne defeated the Rivals 12-5 on June 2 in Wayne earlier this season.
Undefeated (in tourney play) #1 West Point will follow against one-loss #2 O'Neill at 7:30 p.m.
Finals are slated for July 14 in West Point starting at 5 p.m.
The Class B Junior host team will be Wayne who has automatically qualified for state July 18-22.
From Ponca during the Class C Area 2 Juniors elimination round, #6 Wakefield Post 81 ended their season with a 19-12 loss against #2 Ponca.
Post 81 Jrs concluded their summer at 4-14 while the Wakefield Post 81 Seniors (7-8) will next prepare in hosting the Class C Area 2 Tourney July 24-28.
A pair of one-loss teams being #2 Ponca and #3 Hooper/Scribner will meet at 7 p.m. tonight H/S won 5-4 on Saturday.
The winner will face undefeated (in tourney play) #1 Pender on July 14 at 5 p.m. needing to win twice while Pender would only need one win to advance to state. The Class C Juniors state host is Meridian Tri-County July 18-22.
The Post 81 Srs (7-8) added a home game to their schedule for July 14 hosting Lakeview at 7 p.m.
Back in Des Moines, Iowa during the CIS Great 8 NIT, Crush 11U went 0-2 on the second and final day of competition.
The Crush suffered losses of 14-13 against Waukee Spartans and were shutout 8-0 by Cap City Spiders.
Northeast Nebraska Crush 11U fall to 13-10.
