The Wayne American Legion Juniors broke out the bats and got back to the .500 mark with a 10-2 win at Albion on Thursday.

Wayne jumped out to a big lead early, getting three in the first and four in the third to take control. Two errors and a Reid Korth sacrifice fly were the scoring plays in the first, and RBI singles by Korth, Gunnar Jorgensen and Kaleb Anderson fueled the big third inning.

Korth and Jorgensen each had two hits to lead an eight-hit attack. Korth had three RBI’s and Jorgensen added two RBI’s. Tyler Gilliland pitched three innings to get the win.

In action Wednesday, the Juniors fell at Columbus Lakeview 5-1. Wayne was limited to four hits and averted the shutout in the seventh when Jorgensen brought home Korth with a sacrifice fly.

Lutt doubled to highlight a four-hit effort. Trevor DeBoer took the loss on the hill.

The Wayne Juniors, 11-11, begin Ralph Bishop League tournament play on Tuesday.
