Karen Marx, 82, of Wisner, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024 at the Pender Community Hospital in Pender,
Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner, with burial in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are with Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner.
Karen Faye Marx was born Sept. 1, 1942 in Omaha. At the age of four she was adopted by Martin and Elsie Willers. She attended Stanton County Rural School and graduated from Wayne High School in 1960. Karen attended Clarkson College of Nursing in Omaha and obtained her LPN. She worked at Clarkson Hospital prior to her marriage.
Karen married Clifford Marx, Jr. on June 16, 1964 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wayne. Karen worked as a nurse at the Pender Community Hospital and Wisner Care Center for many years.
Karen devoted her time being a 4-H leader, starting the Cuming County Wranglers 4-H Horse Club and the Cuming County Barker’s 4-H Dog Club, if anyone was interested in showing horses or dogs, she made sure they had something to ride and show. For several years, she and Cliff organized the Wisner Horse Show and the Horse Show and Dog Show as part of the Wisner Jr. Livestock Show. She served as Superintendent for several classes at the Cuming County and Wayne County Fairs. Karen was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Wisner Saddle Club, Pony of America Association, and the Pleasurettes Extension Club. She loved spending time with her family and being outdoors.
Survivors include her daughter Kelly Willers of Greeley, Colorado and family - Meredith Munoz and Yosetty Castillo and children, Cambria and Isla, and Madelyn Willers-Moeller; son, Marty Marx of Wayne; daughter, Cindy Marx of Omaha and children - Hannah Fisher and Cole Fisher; daughter, Jaimy and Elliot Liermann of Wisner and family - Alia and Brody Granstra, Kia and Colin Wooldrik, Skye Liermann, and Gabe Liermann; son, Cody and Sarah Marx of Wisner and family - Ashlynn Marx, Morgan Bales, Seth Bales, Camrynn Marx, Landree Loeske, and Tucker Marx; a niece, Becky and Randy Mentz of Winnie, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Elsie Willers; son, Cory Marx; daughter, Kristy Marx; brother, Norman Willers, and a nephew, Harlan Willers.
