Kathryn Ann Hochstein, mother of seven, and wife to LaVerle Hochstein passed away after a long courageous battle with cancer. Kathryn was born July 31, 1943 at Winside to George and Adaline (Hoefener) Jorgensen. After graduating from Wayne High School in 1961, she married Ronnie Billheimer. To this union six children were born - Monte, Darin, Lynell, Andrea, Kami and Chad. On April 12, 1985 Kathryn married LaVerle Hochstein, and to this union, a daughter, Kari, was born.
As a mother and a grandmother she was generous, loving and kind. She enjoyed her kids and grandkids activities, and this kept her busy. Kathryn had 24 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Not only did she touch the lives of her children and grandchildren, Kathy was very involved in the Carroll United Methodist Church teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and sponsoring the Youth Group for many years. She was also involved in the United Methodist Women, and currently was President of that group.
Kathy enjoyed playing pitch and pinochle with friends through the years. She was also an excellent bowler, competing on lots of teams with her daughters, sister Judy, and mother, Addie. Through the years she held numerous positions in the food service field and before retirement worked at the Carroll Post Office. She was very talented in the kitchen, no one would turn down a meal prepared by Kathy.
Survivors include her husband, LaVerle, brother Steve (Gwen) Jorgensen of Norfolk; son, Monte (Diana) Billheimer of Haswell, Colorado, son Darin (Ann) Billheimer of Meridian, Mississippi, daughter Lynell Thies of Wayne, daughter Andrea Hankins of Wayne, daughter Kami (Woody) Pilger of Pilger, son Chad (Angie) Billheimer of Wayne, and daughter Kari (Levi) Rogers of Shelton and all of her grandchildren.
