A Celebration of Life for Katie Hancock, 76, of Allen will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the Allen United Methodist Church in Allen.
She died Saturday, March 30, 2024 at her residence, in the care of her family.
Memorials may be directed to the Hancock family for later designation.
Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
Darelene “Katie” Hancock was born Dec. 9, 1947 in Pine City, Minnesota to Stanley LeRoy and Lois Helen (Whitmore) Davis. Katie attended school in Martensdale, Iowa and received her GED. Throughout her childhood and into her adult life, she farmed and later served as a waitress and bartender. She was a member of the Allen community for over 40 years, and the Allen Methodist Church. Special thanks to those close to Katie and those who helped during her recent illness, including Peggy, the wonderful ICU nurses at Unity Point, Mary Jean Jones, grandsons (in-laws), Eric and Blake, and neighbor, Shelby Jacobsen.
Survivors include her son, Alan (Christe) Hancock of Wakefield; daughters, Shawnee Sullivan and partner James Hussman of Bellevue and Chantel (Greg) Stapleton of Allen; sister, Dixie (Jim) Sawyer of Towanda, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Lois Davis; longtime companion, Dick McCorkindale; son, Jeffrey Scott Davis and brother, Darrell Reggie “Dave” Davis.
