Ken Dahl, 75, of Wayne, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at his home in Wayne.

Services will be held Monday, Dec. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Journey Christian Church in Wayne.  The Rev. Troy Reynolds will officiate.Visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Journey Christian Church in Wayne with family present. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne.

Memorials may be directed in care of the Dahl family for a later designation.

Kenneth Lee Dahl was born Jan. 13, 1940 in Van Nuys, Calif. to Clifford and Luella (Rikansrud) Dahl. He graduated from Wayne High School in 1957 and was a proud member of the 1956 Class B Championship Basketball team. He graduated with a B.A. degree from Wayne State College in 1962 where he was a three-year letter winner on the basketball team, and medalist on the 1962 Conference Golf Championship team. He served in the Iowa Air National Guard in Sioux City until 1965. He then entered into business with his father at the Dahl Nursing Home in Wayne, and shortly thereafter he met, and married Sally Lynn Wagner in August of 1965. He eventually sold the nursing home in 1973 and sought a career in golf course management as a superintendent and certified PGA professional with stops in Beemer, Harlan, Iowa, and Clear Lake, Iowa, before returning to Wayne as the superintendent from 1983 until retiring in 2009. He was a member of Journey Christian Church and sang bass for Journeymen and For the Master quartets.


Survivors include his four sons and their families, Rod Dahl and Jan Daum of Georgetown, Texas (Aaron (Morgan) Natalie, Rachel Daum and Freddy Daum; Corey and Becky Dahl of Crofton (Turner, Connor and Allie); Kyle and Spring Dahl of Pender (Lawton and Barlow); Ryan Dahl of Wayne; sister Kathy and Ted Ziegler of Denver, Colo.; sisters-in-law, June Blatt of Lincoln and Kay Marsh of Lincoln, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sally in March of 2014; his parents and brothers-in-law, Fritz Blatt and Jim Marsh.

Pallbearers will be Rod Dahl, Corey Dahl, Kyle Dahl, Ryan Dahl, Turner Dahl, Connor Dahl, Gary Kaiser and Layne Marsh.

Arrangements are with Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne.
