Kurt Powers, 62, of Bennington, was diagnosed with cancer on Jan. 5, 2024 and passed away on Jan. 29, 2024. 

A drop-in Celebration of Life will be held at The View on State, 13467 State Street in Omaha on Saturday, Feb. 17 from 1-4 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend. 

Kurt Powers was born Oct. 3, 1961 in Wayne. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in computer science. He spent over 37 years working for Alegent Health, CommonSpirit Health as a systems analyst in the Information Systems department. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, biking, fly-fishing with his brothers in Wyoming and spending winter months in Florida with his wife, Jill. As a good friend shared, “No one had more fun that Kurt Powers.”

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jill Powers; his mother, Nancy Jo Powers of Wayne; brothers, Mark (Julie) Powers of York, and Ross Powers of Wichita, Kansas; brother-in-law, Todd Moon of Waukon, Iowa; and two nephews; Miles Powers of Kansas City and Tim (Mariah) Moon of Decorah, Iowa, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Powers of Wayne, and in-laws, Ron and Jackie Moon of Harlan, Iowa.
