Wayne State senior Derek Lahm set a new school record with 6,951 points to capture the NSIC men’s decathlon title during competition held Sunday and Monday at Swisher Field in Aberdeen, S.D.
Lahm shattered his old school record of 6,638 points, set in 2015, in the 10-event decathlon and his point total is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark that currently ranks ninth in NCAA Div. II. He took first place in the long jump (24-3 3/4) and was second in the 100-meter dash (10.74) and javelin (186-6).
Teammate Robert Sullivan also earned All-NSIC honors with a third-place finish in the event by scoring 6,671 points. He won the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.95 seconds and took second in the pole vault (13-9 1/4) and the long jump (24-1). His point total of 6,671 points is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark that ranks 16th in the nation.
