Larry DeWayne Jensen was born on Aug. 24, 1949 in Wayne to Pete and Ruby (Steffen) Jensen. He attended Wayne High School and left school before graduating to enter the workforce. Larry was married to Renee Huetig on June 23, 1973 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Laurel.

Larry held various jobs over the years, including working at the Ford Dealership in Wayne.  He later worked at the REA and then Marra’s Home Improvement, where his love of construction began.  It was while he was with Marra’s, that Larry began his long career as a Rural Carrier for the Post Office, first working part-time and eventually moving into a full-time position. After leaving the Post Office, he enjoyed the retired life for a short time, but he began working at Sand Creek Post & Beam part-time to keep himself busy.

In his early years, Larry enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife Renee and later enjoyed hunting and firing his impressive collection of guns at the shooting range. Larry enjoyed spending his free time visiting with friends and family, frequenting local gas stations and coffee shops, and driving around town in his 2012 Camaro and Polaris Ranger 1000. He is remembered by many for his infectious laugh, and giving nature, always willing to lend a hand.

Survivors include his sister, Lois Wells of Omaha; sisters-in-law, Diane (Gerold) Herrick of Edmunds, Washington; Linda Campbell of Seward; brother-in-law, Scott (Maggie) Huetig of Concord; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his wife, Renee, in 2013; parents, Pete and Ruby Jensen, and his father and mother-in-law, Roland and Dorothy Huetig.
