Late goal forces Wildcat draw against BSU

Home collegiate soccer took over the WSC Pitch Friday late afternoon.

For the eighth time this season, Wayne State College played in front of the home crowd.

WSC entertained Bemidji State University.

After trailing early, Wayne State College used a late second half goal to force a 1-1 tie. WSC is now 4-5-5 (3-3-4 NSIC) as Bemidji State moved to 8-4-2 (6-2-2 NSIC).

The Beavers scored in the 25th minute to lead 1-0 in the opening half. WSC answered thanks to an own goal in the 81st minute. The match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Alaina Sorenson and Madilyn Schmeling both placed one shot on goal; Morgan Rhodes, Reagan Allen and Alyssa Ferin all had one shot on goal of two attempts; Riann Daas added one shot on goal on three attempts as Paige Pemberton tacked on four total shots with one on goal.

Maia Vacks attempted five shots along with Halena Handel who tacked on two shots.

Sidney Truman was in goal for all 90 minutes. She recorded four saves and allowed one goal.

Wayne State College outshot Bemidji State University, 22-10 which included 7-5 on goal. Bemidji State recorded three corner kicks compared to a pair by WSC.
