Week six of high school football showcased a road outing for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
From Plainview, LCC competed with the Pirates on Oct. 4.
Plainview took advantage of early scoring and held onto the 55-34 victory to improve to 4-2. Laurel-Concord-Coleridge fell to 1-5.
Plainview built a 14-0 lead in the first quarter before scoring three more times in the second quarter (one failed PAT).
The Pirates led 34-0 at the half.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge began to chip away at the deficit thanks to a 20-yard passing touchdown from Connor Korth to Kaleb Erwin (PAT pass failed) followed by a 17-yard rushing touchdown from Korth (PAT pass field). LCC trailed 34-12.
Plainview then answered with back-to-back touchdowns to lead 48-12.
The Bears scored once more in the third thanks to another Korth to Erwin connection (40-yards). Following the failed PAT pass, Plainview remained ahead 48-18.
In the fourth quarter, Korth for LCC scored from eight yards out (ran in two-point conversion) followed by an 18-yard score from Korth to Ryder Jelinek (Eli Haisch scored on two-point try). LCC trailed 48-34.
Plainview had the last score of the game and pushed the final to 55-34.
Korth finished 14-31 for 195 yards and three passing touchdowns but five interceptions. He added 104 rushing yards on 26 attempts with two touchdowns.
Erwin recorded five receptions for 85 yards and two scores followed by Jelinek with three catches for 56 yards and a score. Drey Puppe tallied five receptions for 44 yards.
Eli Haisch carried the ball 11 times for 19 yards.
Defensively for LCC, double figure tackle leaders were Korth (nine solo) with 18 and an interception; Tanner Thompson (10 solo) tacked on 14 and Haisch (eight solo) had 13 tackles.
Tackles for loss came from Jelinek (nine tackles, six solo) with two as Kolten Settje (five tackles, four solo) and Cade Johnson (four tackles, three solo) both finished with a TFL. Haisch, Johnson and Jelinek all produced a sack as Erwin also added an INT.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will next visit Summerland on Friday, Oct. 11 before hosting Stanton on Friday, Oct. 18 to close out their regular season.
