Late runs help SSC defeat Wayne/Wakefield

South Sioux City broke a 3-3 tie with four runs in the sixth and four more in the seventh to leave Hank Overin Field with an 11-3 win over Wayne/Wakefield in high school baseball action Tuesday.
The game was scoreless until the fourth when South Sioux City scored a pair of runs off pitcher Tyler Lutt. Wayne got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Mason Lee scored on an error, then tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth with an RBI double by Isaac Camarena and an RBI single by Lutt.
The Cardinals broke the game open in the sixth with four runs, then added four more in the seventh to finish off the win, dropping Wayne/Wakefield's record to 0-7.
Lutt, Camarena and Zane Jackson each had two hits to lead Wayne/Wakefield's eight-hit attack. Lutt, Camarena and Justin Dean each had RBI's.
Lutt pitched five innings and took the loss, allowing four runs, only one of them earned. He struck out three and walked two.
Wayne plays at Norfolk on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and hosts Blair on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hank Overin Field.
