You don't have to wear a cape to save a life - you just have to show up. At the most recent Laurel Community Blood Drive, the community did exactly that, delivering real results: 23 units of blood collected from 16 donors - enough to help up to 69 local patients. One brand-new donor also stepped up for the very first time, joining the LifeServe Blood Center family and proving that heroes aren't found far away. They're found right here, close to home.
Less than 3% of the population donates blood. Even fewer recruit others to do the same. The people who do are the quiet heroes keeping local patients alive all summer long.
Honoring Our Milestone Donors achieving milestone donations at the drive included:
Rebecca Bloom — one gallon;
Jeanne Keifer — two gallons: and
Dallas Graham — seven gallons.
Behind every great drive is someone who opened their doors, gave their time and said yes when it would have been easier to say nothing. LifeServe Blood Center extends its deepest thanks to Lisa Karnes and the Laurel Fire and Rescue for making this drive possible. You didn't just host a blood drive - you turned your space into a place where lives were saved. That's what being a hero close to home actually looks like, and we are honored to have you in our corner.
The summer is long. The need is real. And LifeServe is looking for people ready to be heroes close to home for the rest of the season. Whether you're a seasoned community leader or someone stepping up for the first time, there is a place for you in this mission. Help recruit donors, spread the word and make every person who walks through the door feel like the hero they are.
