Laurel-Concord-Coleridge fell behind late at Elkhorn Valley

A two-game winning streak ended for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge following a Sept. 26 road trip. 

From Tilden, LCC suffered a 34-31 loss at Elkhorn Valley.

The Bears held a 9-7 advantage  after the first quarter and outscored Elkhorn Valley, 16-14 in the second.

LCC led 25-21 lead at half.

Both teams traded leads in the second half with the host Falcons scoring the lone seven points in the third quarter followed by a fourth quarter touchdown from LCC.

Elkhorn Valley closed scoring in the fourth quarter to win 34-31.

Sophomore Drey Puppe was limited in the passing game going 5-11 for 10 yards (long of six) and one interception. He did lead the Bears on the ground on 22 attempts for 111 yards (long of 34) and two scores (one yard, 12 yards).

Puppe also recorded two interceptions including a 25-yard pick-six and knocked through a 34-yard field goal.

Junior Tanner Thompson followed with 13 carries for 53 yards and one score (11 yards).

Sophomore Parker Hoeppner was the top receiver hauling in two catches for nine yards (long of six).

Puppe (five solo) and Tanner Thompson (three solo, fumble recovery) both had eight tackles.

Senior Kolten Settje (two solo) and sophomore Paxton Hoeppner (one solo) both added five tackles as junior Kyle Rasmussen finished with three tackles (two solo) and a tackle for loss.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will next play back-to-back home games starting on Friday, October 3 hosting Plainview at 7 p.m.
