On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at approximately 7 a.m., the Wayne Police Department received a complaint of person(s) trespassing inside a vacant mobile home. The information was confirmed from neighbors when officers arrived at the location that a person who had been given a trespass notice from that address prior was allegedly still inside the residence.
Several attempts were made to get someone to respond from inside the residence, but all were unsuccessful. A search warrant was obtained and was executed on the residence. No one was located during the search inside the residence or anywhere on the property.
The Wayne Police Department was assisted on scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.
Due to the unknown circumstances and for precautionary reasons, all schools in the community were placed in secure status during the incident and returned to normal status around 10 a.m. at the completion of the search.
