Handling lawncare for the courthouse lawn and maintenance in several areas of the courthouse were among items discussed during Tuesday's meeting of the Wayne County Board of Commissioners.

Bids for both spaying and mowing were opened during the meeting. This included two bids for spraying and three for mowing.

In regard to the maintenance position, commissioner authorized County Clerk Joni Tietz to advertise for the position and set April 22 as a deadline for accepting applications.

Other items on Tuesday's agenda that were tabled included carpet/flooring for several areas within the courthouse and lighting for the courthouse annex.

Also on Tuesday's agenda was a request from Lisa Lindsay, representing the county's Safety Committee.

Vacating the plat for the village of Altona was part of the meeting.

Gaylin Woodward told the commissioners that he owns almost all the property that was originally Altona. The area was platted in 1902, but the town was never incorporated.

The Wayne County Board of Commissioners will next meet in regular session on Tuesday, April 20 at 9 a.m. in the Wayne County Courtroom.
