Following an opening round loss earlier in the week during the Greater Northeast Activities Conference tournament, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys played one loser’s bracket game.
From Lutheran High Northeast in Norfolk, #7 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge took on #8 Neligh Oakdale on Friday.
LCC led from the start and secured a 68-17 win.
During the boys only contest, LCC jumped ahead thanks to a 17-2 first quarter followed by a 16-4 advantage in the second quarter to lead 33-6 at half. The Bears outscored Neligh-Oakdale, 21-5 in the third quarter and 14-6 in the fourth. Final favored LCC winning 68-17 to snap a four-game losing streak as Neligh Oakdale fell to 0-19.
LCC leaders were senior Gibson Roberts with 17 points on three made three’s as freshman Drey Puppe added 13 points.
Other scoring came from senior Caleb Erwin, senior Eli Haisch and sophomore Tanner Thompson all with six points; five-point scoring came from freshman Paxton Hoeppner and sophomore Talon Carson; senior Carter Korth tallied four points as two-points each were posted by freshman Dayton Korth, sophomore Kyle Rasmussen and senior Connor Korth.
The Bears finished 5-11 from the foul line.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys will next join their girls team on Tuesday, Feb. 11 visiting Summerland.
The other loser’s bracket game favored the host #5 Lutheran High Northeast winning 57-42 over #6 Hartington-Newcastle.
In the winner’s bracket from Ewing, #1 and host Summerland won 53-44 against #4 Plainview followed by #2 West Holt winning 59-56 over #3 Elkhorn Valley.
