LCC boys win battle of rated teams, Lady Bears also win

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge boys and girls basketball games both used big third quarters to earn wins over Osmond in action Tuesday at LCC High School.

The Class C-2 No. 2-ranked Bears hooked up with D-2 No. 4 Osmond in a close battle during the first half, but the Bears outscored the Tigers 27-9 in the third period to earn an 80-54 win and improve to 16-1 on the season.

Noah Schutte had a game-high 24 points and Izac Reifenrath added 20 for the Bears. Ty Erwin and Evan Haisch also scored in double figures, posting 18 and 10 points, respectively. Cael Hartung finished with eight points.

In the girls game, the Lady Bears used a 26-7 third-quarter surge to pull away with the easy 66-25 win and had four players finish in double figures.

Makayla Forsberg, Kinsey Hall and Lorna Maxon each had 12 points, while Madisyn Hall tossed in 11. Delaney Ehlers added six points, Bethany Kardell and Erica Wolfgram both had four, Sydney Chapman and Reggan Kuhlman each had two and Katelyn Steffen put in a free throw.

The LCC teams travel to Wakefield for a boys-girls doubleheader on Thursday.
