LCC cross country team attends camp

Thanks to the Ag Day Fun Run Fundraiser held this past June with a great turn out from the Laurel community and cross country (XC) family and friends support, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge cross country team was able to attend the third annual Cross Country Camp in Homer.

A full day starting at 8 a.m. with registration and a 30 minute stretch and run with many other XC teams from the Tri-State area.

The day was full of games running outside to bring the fun, and then inside where the kids and coaches listened to different speakers.

Jim, the shoe guy, from Peak Performance in Sioux City, IA was available to provide feet/shoe checks for anyone that wanted a fitting. Kids also learned from college runners and college coaches, with time to meet as a team to decompress and reflect after each speaker.

The kids learned things to help them be better teammates, gain mental toughness of running and much more that will apply to their season.

LCC has had the opportunity to attend this camp for the past three years, thanks to the Ag Day Fundraiser and other fundraising efforts throughout the year.

"Our team is like a family and we know that we all bring something to our team that is valuable," said XC coach Brandi Settje..

The LCC home meet is September 11 at 10 a.m. at CedarView Golf Course.

"If you haven’t been to a XC meet or if you just want to cheer on the runners, come out and enjoy a morning with us," Settje added.
