A busy week for the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge basketball teams continued Thursday evening.
From Hartington, LCC visited Cedar Catholic.
The LCC girls lost 52-37 while the LCC boys suffered an 86-40 decision against the host Trojans.
In the girls game (no quarter scoring available), Laurel-Concord-Coleridge went back-and-forth most of the game with the Trojans between four and eight points. LCC cut the game down to one possession in the third quarter before the host Trojans extended their lead to win 52-37. Cedar Catholic is now 7-4 on the season as the Bears dropped their fifth straight falling to 5-7.
LCC leaders were sophomore Rena Rasmussen with 20 points as fellow sophomore Carlie Kvols added 12 points. Sophomore Kaida Eriksen also scored five points.
During the boys outing, Cedar Catholic led 22-13 after the first quarter and then extended their lead thanks to a 23-7 second quarter to go up 45-20 first half lead. The host Trojans then won the third quarter, 20-11 and fourth, 21-9. Final favored Cedar Catholic winning 86-40 to improve to 7-3 picking up their fifth straight victory as LCC dropped their seventh-straight falling to 4-7.
LCC leaders were senior Gibson Roberts with 17 points while senior Caleb Erwin followed with seven points.
Other scoring came from senior Carter Korth and sophomore Cade Johnson both with six points as two-point scoring came from freshman Drey Puppe and sophomore Tanner Thompson.
The Bears made six threes and were 6-11 from the foul line.
Double figure Cedar Catholic leaders were senior Jaymison Cattau with 18 points, sophomore Mason Baller added 17 points (five made threes), junior Aaron Wortman and senior Nolan Becker both followed with 13 points as senior Braeden Reifenrath tallied 12 points.
The Trojans sank 16 three’s and finished 6-11 at the charity stripe.
