GNAC volleyball tournament teams went back to work at two separate locations for round two.
Winner’s bracket matches were played in Laurel while the loser’s bracket was hosted by Plainview.
#1 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge secured a 3-0 sweep over #4 West Holt (25-20, 25-12, 25-14) while #2 Elkhorn Valley won in four sets over #3 Summerland (25-21, 25-22, 21-25, 25-15).
LCC is now 26-3 on the season winning their sixth straight match and have also won 15 consecutive sets.
During the LCC victory over West Holt, double-doubles came from sophomore Rena Rasmussen with 14 kills and 11 digs as senior Tali Erwin recorded 14 kills and 11 digs along with two solo blocks. Sophomore Carlie Kvols posted 37 assists and three digs as senior Baylie Graf led LCC in digs with 13.
Sophomore Kaida Eriksen added seven kills and 10 digs; junior Tyler Recob tallied five kills and five digs as senior Lainey Schutte tacked on four kills and 11 digs.
Erwin, Schutte, Kvols and Eriksen all finished with two service aces as Recob had an ace.
Championship matches for the Greater Northeast Activities Conference will be played on Friday, Oct., 25 hosted by Summerland in Ewing. The consolation match will begin at 5:30 p.m. featuring #3 Summerland vs. #4 West Holt followed by the GNAC finals of #1 Laurel-Concord-Coleridge vs. #2 Elkhorn Valley.
Final loser’s bracket matches were played at Plainview. #5 Plainview swept #6 Hartington-Newcastle (25-19, 25-19, 25-19) as #7 Lutheran High Northeast won against #8 Neligh-Oakdale.
