In the middle of a three-game home stretch, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls and boys basketball teams returned to their home court Thursday night.
From Laurel, LCC entertained Battle Creek in non-conference action.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls suffered a 51-45 loss while the LCC boys dropped an 80-30 decision against the visiting Bravettes and Braves.
In the girls game, LCC jumped ahead 12-4 in the first quarter as Battle Creek answered with a 19-8 second quarter to go up 23-20 at the half. The Bravettes outscored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, 12-11 in the third and 16-14 in the fourth. Final favored Battle Creek winning 51-45 to improve to 12-5 and snap a two-game losing streak while LCC fell to 7-10 having a two-game winning streak snapped.
LCC leaders were sophomore Kaida Eriksen with 20 points on four made three’s while fellow sophomore Rena Rasmussen added 14 points.
Other scoring came from senior Lainey Schutte with seven points as junior Camryn Sohler and sophomore Carlie Kvols both scored two points.
Battle Creek was led in scoring by senior Jaid Wehrle with 13 points as senior Sami Wemhoff added 11 points.
During the boys outing, Battle Creek led 23-9 early and added an 18-7 second quarter to go up 41-16 at half. The Braves outscored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, 21-3 in the third quarter and 18-11 in the fourth. Final favored Battle Creek winning 80-30 to improve to 8-8 winning back-to-back as LCC fell to 6-10 having a two-game winning streak snapped.
LCC leaders were senior Eli Haisch with nine points as fellow senior Gibson Roberts followed with seven points.
Other scoring came from senior Caleb Erwin with four points, three-point scoring came from sophomore Talon Carson and sophomore Cade Johnson; freshman Paxton Hoeppner tallied two points as freshman Drey Puppe and sophomore Tanner Thompson both scored a point.
Battle Creek was led in scoring by six in double figures. Senior Jaxon Kilmurry scored a team-high 17 points, junior Isaac Rudloff followed with 14 points, senior MJ Wragge added 13 points, junior Xander Larson tallied 12 points as junior Isaiah Bleich and senior Jaxon Mettler both scored 11 points.
