LCC girls pull away in second, third; LCC boys drop home outing

One final regular season conference outing counted towards the upcoming Greater Northeast Activities Conference (GNAC) tournament on Tuesday.

From Laurel, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge entertained Lutheran High Northeast.

The LCC girls won 70-32 while the LCC boys suffered a 51-38 loss against the visiting Eagles.

In the girls game, LCC held a 15-9 first quarter lead before pulling away in the second quarter with an 18-4 scoring clip to lead 33-13 at half. The Bears extended their lead thanks to a 28-8 third quarter as the Eagles won the fourth, 11-9. Final favored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge winning 70-32 to improve to 8-10 as Lutheran High Northeast dropped their 12th straight falling to 2-15.

LCC leaders were sophomore Rena Rasmussen with 25 points including 11-14 from the foul line. Sophomore Kaida Eriksen followed with 13 points as senior Lainey Schutte added 12 points.

Other scoring came from sophomore Carlie Kvols with eight points, sophomore Hattie McCorkindale tallied seven points, freshman Alyza Leonard Leonard tacked on three points as junior Tyler Recob scored two points.

The Bears shot 17-21 at the charity stripe.

Lutheran High Northeast was led in scoring by senior Reagan Lewis with 14 points including 8-8 from the foul line.

The Eagles finished 12-17 from the foul line.

During the boys outing, Lutheran High Northeast led 13-10 in the first quarter as LCC answered with a 13-10 second quarter. The game was tied at 23-23 at half. The Eagles then outscored LCC, 16-8 in the third and 12-7 in the fourth. Final favored Lutheran High Northeast winning 51-38 to improve to 9-7 as Laurel-Concord-Coleridge dropped their second straight falling to 6-11.

LCC leaders were senior Gibson Roberts with 20 points on five made three’s as senior Eli Haisch added six points.

Other scoring came from sophomore Cade Johnson with five points, senior Caleb Erwin tallied four points, senior Connor Korth tacked on two points as sophomore Tanner Thompson scored a point.

The Bears shot 5-9 at the charity stripe.

Lutheran High Northeast was led in scoring by junior Gavin Feddern and sophomore D’Artagnan Taylor both with 14 points as junior Cole Lawless added 12 points.

The Eagles finished 8-17 from the foul line.
