Both Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Ponca moved into their fifth game of the season.
From Ponca, the Bears visited the Indians on Tuesday in high school basketball competition.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls won 48-34 as the LCC boys suffered a 50-35 loss.
In the girls game, both teams scored six points in the first quarter followed by a 17-1 second quarter for LCC to lead 23-7 at the break. The Bears extended their lead with an 11-9 third as Ponca won fourth quarter scoring 18-14. Final favored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge winning 48-34 to improve to 3-2 as the Indians fell to 2-3.
LCC made 12 three-pointers as a team being led by sophomore Kaida Eriksen with five and 16 points as fellow sophomore Rena Rasmussen followed with two made three's and 15 points.
Other scoring came from junior Camryn Sohler (two) with eight points, sophomore Carlie Kvols (two) tallied six points and sophomore Justice Olson hit a three-pointer.
LCC shot 4-10 from the foul line.
Ponca was led by sophomore Elsie Keller with nine points, freshman Ava Brown followed with six points as freshman Laken Pfister and junior Emerson Ehlers both added five points.
Other scoring came from sophomore Jaelen Templeman (four), junior Avery McAfee (three) and senior Emma Uthof (two).
Ponca shot 6-13 at the charity stripe.
During the boys outing, Ponca led 14-9 after the opening quarter before LCC cut into the deficit with an 8-6 second quarter. At the break, Ponca led 20-17. The Indians then outscored Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, 12-9 in the third and 18-9 in the fourth. Final favored Ponca winning 50-35 to win their third straight improving to 4-1 as LCC fell to 4-1.
Senior Tucker McGill led Ponca with 19 points as senior Zain Stark followed with 10 points.
Other scoring came from senior Austin Dendinger (seven); junior Mickenon Peterson and sophomore Cooper Stewart (both with five) as freshman Pierce Ehlers and senior Bradley Lentz (both with two).
Ponca shot 6-10 in the fourth quarter and in the game from the foul line.
Senior Gibson Roberts recorded a team-high 21 points for LCC as sophomore Cade Johnson followed with seven points.
Other scoring came from senior Eli Haisch (three) as well as senior Caleb Erwin and senior Connor Korth (both two).
The Bears finished 3-4 at the charity stripe (all Roberts).
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls and boys will next visit Plainview on Friday, December 20. The Ponca girls will next host Vermillion on Thursday, December 19 as both the Ponca girls and boys will visit Tri County Northeast on Friday.
